Baby Boomers Unite

Welcome!
In case you don't know what a Baby Boomer is, a Baby Boomer is a person who was born during the demographic Post-World II baby boom from 1946 to 1964 and who grew up during the 1960's and 1970's.
In the United States approximately 79 million babies were born during the Baby Boom.

January 1, 2011 officially started the Era of the "Golden Boomers".
The term "the Golden Boomers" began to generate an immediate significant impact on worldwide populations. Marketing firms and professionals have begun to use the phrase "Golden Boomers" in describing and formulating their marketing strategies.
Baby Boomers control over 80% of personal financial assets and more than 50% of discretionary spending power. They are responsible for more than half of all consumer spending, buy 77% of all prescription drugs, 61% of OTC medication and 80% of all leisure travel. With stats like that, it is no surprise that marketing firms view us as the consumer goose that lays the golden egg'!

So, there you have it, a little run-down of how us Boomers came to be and where we stand now in 2011. We have made our way in the world leaving behind unique footprints that blazed trails unto territories never ventured before. Many questions loom for me in regard to how we fared on our journey and so was born - "Project Boomerang"

Returning boomerangs actually do fly and are examples of the earliest heavier than air man made flight. A returning boomerang has two or more airfoil wings arranged so that the spinning creates unbalanced aerodynamic forces that curve its path so that it travels in an elliptical path and returns to its point of origin when thrown correctly.

Next year, in 2012, I will start video-taping Boomers to put together a documentary to show a more intimate look into the lives of Boomers, but until then I am asking Boomers for help by way of answering a list of 10 Questions.

Boomers from every walk of life will be included -
from the homeless to the ultra wealthy. The questions posed will not change or be tailored towards one Boomer to the next. The only thing that will differentiate Boomers from one another are the answers given.

This blog will be where I share the information I get from my anonymous volunteers that have answered the 10 Questions. I am hoping from their responses and comments that we can get an idea of what it means to be a Baby Boomer. As a Boomer myself, (born in 1956), there are times I've felt isolated and even lost when it comes to where I have ended up in my journey. And now with an economy that has shifted and weakened under our feet, I know that many of us are faced with having to adjust our life's plan and if you're anything like me, this is no easy task!

Project Boomerang is a way of re-uniting and standing shoulder to shoulder as we watch our Golden Years march to the horizon of our lives

Your comments are welcome too and if you'd like to answer Project Boomerang's 10 Questions please contact me and I will send them to you to answer and return.
I may even list the 10 Questions here as the project unfolds.

Thank you and I hope Project Boomerang proves to be an enlightening look to the past, present and future.
